About HPPAA
H Project Performing Arts Association (HPPAA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit arts organization based in Austin, Texas, supporting contemporary jazz, interdisciplinary performing arts, education, documentation, and public engagement.
Founded in 2011 by jazz pianist, composer, and educator Hank Hehmsoth, HPPAA supports public-facing projects that connect music, visual art, education, community history, and creative collaboration. The organization’s work includes concerts, workshops, artist-led programs, museum and community partnerships, archival discovery, Texas jazz history, and interdisciplinary arts programming.

Our projects foster creativity, connect people across communities, and support public access to contemporary jazz, interdisciplinary performance, and Texas music history.
How We Put Our Mission Into Practice
Double Vision Jazz Ensemble
Contemporary jazz performances, commissions, premieres, and new arrangements presented in concerts, educational programs, and community settings. Double Vision also serves as a core ensemble for HPPAA collaborations and public projects.
Youth Education
Workshops, jam sessions, mentoring, and public programs create opportunities for young musicians to learn directly from experienced artists. HPPAA encourages creativity, improvisation, collaboration, and community participation.
Texas Jazz History
HPPAA explores and shares Texas jazz history through performance, archival discovery, research, documentation, and public humanities programs. Projects connect important musicians and musical traditions with contemporary audiences.
Interdisciplinary Arts
HPPAA brings jazz into conversation with visual art, poetry, spoken word, film, history, and other creative disciplines. These collaborations create new ways for artists and audiences to experience the arts together.
Public Access and Documentation
HPPAA’s work extends beyond live performance. We document and share programs, research, performance materials, interviews, recordings, and educational resources so that public arts activities can continue reaching audiences after an event.
We support public access through online video, archival materials, jazz history research, and curated art education resources on the HanksJazz / HPPAA YouTube nonprofit channel.
