A Texas innovator with a national musical legacy.
Born in San Marcos, Eddie Durham became an important arranger, composer, trombonist, guitarist, and musical innovator during jazz's swing era.
His work connected Texas musical traditions with major developments in American jazz. Durham was also among the earliest musicians to expand the role of amplified guitar in jazz.
This program approaches Durham's history not as something preserved behind glass, but as living music — performed, interpreted, discussed, and heard again in the city where his story began.
