HPPAA founder Hank Hehmsoth’s Circling In was jury-selected for the Arts–San Marcos Community Gallery Exhibition at San Marcos City Hall. The work connects visual art with jazz composition and improvisation, drawing inspiration from Chick Corea’s creative spirit.
The Community Gallery brought together work by local artists and included a public artist reception hosted by the City of San Marcos Arts Program. Circling In also shares its title with an original jazz composition performed by Double Vision Jazz Ensemble, extending the project’s connection between image and sound.
I’m honored that my artwork Circling In was jury selected for the Community Gallery Exhibition, on view April 20 — September 15, 2026. The piece connects my visual art practice with my work as a jazz composer and pianist, and is inspired by the spirit of Chick Corea’s Circling In. It also shares its title with one of my original
jazz compositions performed by Double Vision Jazz Ensemble.
It was wonderful to see the range of work by local artists and to be part of this community exhibition.
